Supporting Parents and Caregivers in Early Childhood
The first few years of a child’s life are critical with the greatest growth in language and motor and brain development. Much of this growth is supported by caregivers and established through a loving, enriching environment. This can be a daunting task for any caregiver. But when delays, medical complications, new diagnosis, and disabilities are present, navigating these early years becomes more complex. As service providers for these young families, we are often their first introduction to the world of special needs. We can play a tremendous role by informing, supporting, encouraging, and empowering parents and in equipping them for the years ahead. This 90-minute course honors the role of early childhood service providers and their unique place in the lives of caregivers by providing insight, resources, and strategies that can be easily and immediately used and shared. Topics include neuro-affirming practices, honoring cultural differences, and the 7 Key Practices for Early Intervention.
