Toilet Training from a Sensory Perspective
From a parent’s perspective, it’s likely that no other developmental milestone is more life changing than independence in toileting! This 1-hour webinar provides an overview of two very different methods for toilet training children with sensory processing disorders and/or Autism. Although toilet training is typically most successful when carried out in the home, strategies for the school setting are also included.
- Identify signs of toilet-training readiness in children with Autism or Sensory Processing Disorder.
- Determine the impact of sensory over- or under-responsiveness on toilet training.
- Understand the role of visual schedules, social stories, rewards and consequences, and sensory strategies in the toilet-training process.
- Assess the pros and cons of two very different approaches to toilet training.
- Determine possible next steps for children with extreme fears or aversion to the toilet-training process.
